{two} Pretend

While Hubby and I had a lovely, all be it rainy, few nights away on the Sunshine coast, Aden stayed with Nanny.
It was the first 2-night stay and I'm rather pleased and proud of how well behaved he was and how he didn't miss us too much. He did ask where I was a few times but a quick cuddle from Nanny and he was happy to go back and play with his cousins.

Ever since the day after Aden's Octonauts party for his 3rd birthday,just 2 months ago, he as been asking for a dinosaur party for his next birthday.

And Nanny indulged him while he was there.... A pretend dinosaur 5th birthday party for Aden, complete with fairy bread, lamingtons,  watermelon, a special table setting and of course cake with 5 candles!

I'd made the cake the day before for Nanny's birthday lunch so I guess the talk of birthday was just too hard resist. And of course no party is complete without singing 'Happy Birthday' and roaring like a dinosaur!

They also make necklaces and played games. What a great Nanny to indulge in a little pretend! And I can't help but show you what helpful little kids the are....washing up after the party! So cute!

Aden came home saying it was the 'best sleepover ever' so it was a win for everyone! Thanks Mum for having him!

I love listening to my kids play pretend, although the older they get the less they do it...or the harder it is to catch them!

My girls are constantly playing mums and dads and setting up libraries all over the house! I love imaginative play, it's so cute hearing what they say to each other

My children are grown now but they loved playing at 'farming' when they were small!

{3rd Birthday} Octonauts party

It has been a week two weeks since Aden's Octonauts party and I think I have recovered enough to post about it. Special thanks to my sister for gabbing my camera and my MIL and SIL for their cameras, as I didn't take any all day! Aden is a massive Octonauts fan! So when he didn't go for my initial plan of a 'Monsters' Party ( too scary Mummy!) we decided on Octonauts. I did a lot of Internet searching and looking at a lot of Pintrest posts to gather all my ideas together.  There was lots of party food including Octonaut Cupcakes. Cake toppers from Ebay  And a Kwazii cake as requested by the birthday boy! I totally forgot to put on the Octopus I had for his hat!! We also had yellow/green/blue jelly cups with turtles in them and smarties cookies. As well as regular party food and hot finger food for the adults. Mummy wiping Aden's face before having cake photos! We had balloons, a birthday banner and streamers.

Amy is hosting a Quilt Festival! You get to see so many beautiful quilts all in the one place in the comfort of your own home...or work desk as the case may be! All you have to do is share a quilt you have made! I'm going to share this quilt.... from a pattern yes but I loved making it! Choosing the fabrics was fun...playing with colours mixing them up...changing my mind...I tried to be true to life but it ws hard with the bright fabrics... I had a border dilema that was fixed by some helpful friends! Progress pic... All the animals finished Of course it helps to love a quilt when your making it for a very special little girl! I'm keen to make this one again...just to play with the fabrics!!
