AJ's Antics

So Pretty and Pink made it to its destination ! Yeah! Only 11 months late! Turn it around son and show me the back...... I think it looks good like this Mum! - helpful boy! The Lady Beetles are just like my new boots! SYST - 4 FQ's?? at a guess? It is a rather biggish 'Doll Quilt'

Last year Nic sent me this little piece of cuteness and this year it was my turn to send her something!   I went with a paper pieced centre, some wonky 'piano keys' around the edges and some plain cornerstones. I quilting by machine around the centre star and then added some echo stitching as well. I then also tried my hand at some 'hand quiltling' What I did was probably more embroidery but I like it all the same. I hope her small daughter enjoys tucking in her dolls under this one!   In return I got another stunning quilt this year!   The talented Anna  made these wonky houses to hang on my wall.       A row of little scrappy houses sit on a curvy hill.     There are little flowers and chimney smoke quilted in and little birds singing in trees.     There is also some lovely silver thread quilted in the sky area...so sparkly!     Thanks Anna! It looks right at home...

I keep coming back to this 'Lone Starburst' block on Pintrest....over and over and over again. So while I was bouncing from one project to another yesterday I started one! Following the links from pintrest leads you to Fresh Lemons . A beauitful blog full of eye candy of the quilty variety. The link specifically talks about her Travelling Quilt  a version of a Round Robin quilt but requiring each person to secretly add anything to the quilt based on a theme decided on by the few blocks that start off the quilt. Faith made star blocks, one of which was the 'Lone Startburst' that I keep seeing pop up on Pintrest. She directs you to the paper pieced pattern that she used on the Six White Horses  blog. Another beautiful blog full of eye candy! Here is what I've got so far....in pretty pinks....I'm thinking that this would make a good Doll quilt for a swap I'm in or.....my quilty giveaway at the end of the month! I've finished...

Unfornuatley Car had to wait a little bit longer for her doll quilt. I was planning on visiting a friend who lives near her and thought it would be fun to just pop in and hand deliver it....but alas the best laid plans often go wrong and so when the 2nd attempt at visiting was again postponed I had to pop it in the mail. Well Done to Australia Post who took less that 24hrs door-to-door! It was very quick to finish once I had an idea in my head. That part took a long time! Car likes whimiscle things like fairies and mushrooms...they are usually not my cup of tea, but by the time this little quilt was finished it had grown on me quite a bit and it was hard to let go. I'm very please with my stitching and I hope Car will enjoy having it on her wall. And one day I might just still pop in for a look.

OMG!! How fantastic is this cute little quilt that Nicole made me! I love the symmetry of the fabrics. I love the simplicity. I love the white 'space'. I love the yellow square for the sun. I love the blue 'sky' and the green 'grass'. I love the blue bird. I love the orange flags. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Thanks Nicole! Sorry about the wrinkles....I couldn't wait to get it photographed and show you all how stunning it is!

Only a few days left before the posting date for the 5th Annual EB Doll Quilt Swap.....can't wait to see what everyone has created!

Most of the little quilts have arrived at their destinations...and then I remembered I didn't show you what I sent yet! Here it is..well 'they' to be correct. I sent 2 little quilts to Rose and her girls...it is very hard to share one little quilt between two! A little bit whimsy, a little bit wild, a little bit odd...not usually my style but these little quilts are great places to try new things! I'm hoping LilFrankie's girls will have a good time playing with them...just like Aden and Grover did!

Today is opening day! Yeah!! The lovely Ingrid of Lottielulu had made me the softest, prettiest quilt! It is fansatic! It is pretty, pink, girly and accurate! lol No thanks to my little healper! Despite the trouble Ingrid had quilting it, the quilting is great! I love it! Thanks Ingrid! I tried to teach Aden to hold the quilt up for me to photograph...A skill we will have to work on! lol Dh and I will share the chocolate tonight when Aden is in bed!

Spots, spots and more spots! Binding for EB Doll Quilt Swap

I was complaining the other night to Helen that I was totally un-inspired to even start a Doll quilt for the EB swap...the deadline is just around the corner. So tonight I had a little play with some charm swap squares from way back...I was just doing...not thinking and it was not working! So I sat and looked around the room at all the lovely quilts I have hanging there ...and then i think my brain exploded!! I found this fabric in my stash and got totally inspired!! Where do you find your inspiration?? Here is a sneak peek of my Doll Quilt for the EB swap! It is a little bright...but I'm hoping my swappee will like it!

The annual EB Doll Quilt swap is on again! I re-found a bunch of pink charm squares from a previous swap while sorting out fabric after the move and decided to use those to make this years quilt. Some inspiration from here and I was off! I was going to do a second cut through them but decided that that would be a bit much for such a small piece of fabric. I still have to add some borders to it yet...but I'm way ahead of schedule! If my swap partner doesn't like it I know a certain little girl who will be 2 soon that would love it for her dollies!
