Presents from a far...

About a month ago my Mum traveled to Thailand for 16 days...when asked what I wanted her to bring back I of course said fabric!! She got me a metre of each of these... I think they are 100% cotton, but the cheap kind, not really for quilting, so hopefully I can make something out of them....any ideas??




But how cool are these...

I'm thinking couch cushions??

Each one is made by hand. Mum watched, as a lady and her MIL, folded and placed all of the fabric and then stitched it down. The tiny triangle along the edge are not stitched down but are like prarie points facing in on the fabric. The long strips are folds of material. It is really quite intricate and detailed.
These pastle ones are my favourite...maybe a wall hanging for a little girls room?? If I cut them in half that will give me six of them and they should be easy enough to match with other blocks??



There are 5 metres of each of these. To be used a trimmings for a quilt.Mum bought a 'quilt' with squares in red and black, attached to the front and then long strips across the top and bottom...I forgot to take a photo of the actuall quilt....next time...

Wow! I'm not sure what you could do with the cottons - although I'm sure you could make baby items when needed! But those detailed trims could be used in so many ways. Definitely cushions, and great features in all sorts of quilts.

{3rd Birthday} Octonauts party

It has been a week two weeks since Aden's Octonauts party and I think I have recovered enough to post about it. Special thanks to my sister for gabbing my camera and my MIL and SIL for their cameras, as I didn't take any all day! Aden is a massive Octonauts fan! So when he didn't go for my initial plan of a 'Monsters' Party ( too scary Mummy!) we decided on Octonauts. I did a lot of Internet searching and looking at a lot of Pintrest posts to gather all my ideas together.  There was lots of party food including Octonaut Cupcakes. Cake toppers from Ebay  And a Kwazii cake as requested by the birthday boy! I totally forgot to put on the Octopus I had for his hat!! We also had yellow/green/blue jelly cups with turtles in them and smarties cookies. As well as regular party food and hot finger food for the adults. Mummy wiping Aden's face before having cake photos! We had balloons, a birthday banner and streamers.

All you have to do is share a quilt you have made! I'm going to share this quilt.... from a pattern yes but I loved making it! Choosing the fabrics was fun...playing with colours mixing them up...changing my mind...I tried to be true to life but it ws hard with the bright fabrics... I had a border dilema that was fixed by some helpful friends! Progress pic... All the animals finished Of course it helps to love a quilt when your making it for a very special little girl! I'm keen to make this one again...just to play with the fabrics!!
