Luke's Quilt


I finished sewing Luke's quilt top together this morning....now I think it needs something else....I'm thinking a top and bottom border....in blue??? But will that make to quilt too long and skinny....maybe I need border on all sides???....one blue, one orange, one yellow, one green?????

I think I'll quilt it with a square spiral patterern like this...
like a square snail shell pattern......hhhhmmm...thinking thinking........

AJ! My first thought? Looks fantastic as it is! Love it. But see what your saying as I look longer, maybe needs something else. Maybe, just maybe a 2 inch plain border? That wouldn't make it too long and skinny but would frame the blocks. Colour? Hmmm, maybe just one colour, not too busy as the blocks can then speak for themself. What colour though? I'll post this then go look at the pict again! :)

Okay, back again! How about a pale green border the same colour as the background block in the letter L? Then for the border different stripes of every colour used? How do you think that would work? Sorry I took so long to answer too, stuck in bauble land! LOL Let me know how you go!

{3rd Birthday} Octonauts party

It has been a week two weeks since Aden's Octonauts party and I think I have recovered enough to post about it. Special thanks to my sister for gabbing my camera and my MIL and SIL for their cameras, as I didn't take any all day! Aden is a massive Octonauts fan! So when he didn't go for my initial plan of a 'Monsters' Party ( too scary Mummy!) we decided on Octonauts. I did a lot of Internet searching and looking at a lot of Pintrest posts to gather all my ideas together.  There was lots of party food including Octonaut Cupcakes. Cake toppers from Ebay  And a Kwazii cake as requested by the birthday boy! I totally forgot to put on the Octopus I had for his hat!! We also had yellow/green/blue jelly cups with turtles in them and smarties cookies. As well as regular party food and hot finger food for the adults. Mummy wiping Aden's face before having cake photos! We had balloons, a birthday banner and streamers.

All you have to do is share a quilt you have made! I'm going to share this quilt.... from a pattern yes but I loved making it! Choosing the fabrics was fun...playing with colours mixing them up...changing my mind...I tried to be true to life but it ws hard with the bright fabrics... I had a border dilema that was fixed by some helpful friends! Progress pic... All the animals finished Of course it helps to love a quilt when your making it for a very special little girl!
