EB Doll Quilt Swap II

I finished making all the blocks this morning and then hand stitched them while watching Bathurst..stupid Ford won, Holden's turn next year!!

I love the puffy 3D effect the folding of the fabric makes...I like all the fabrics individually...but when they are together....???....DH hates it....and I'm still not sure.....I still have time to make another one if this one isn't right....hope my swapee leaves a comment!! HINT HINT!!

Thanks for your comments girls...It was the brown that was throwing me to I think...Helen likes it thought so it must be good!! :P The more I look at the the more it grows on me...so I guess it is in the mail soon!!

Well! Daz said its rather a daring design for you AJ! He liked the blue, not the brown, I like the brown, not the dark blue! I think your swapee will love it though!

I really like it, it has an oriental feel to it.

I like the fabrics and the design (beautifully executed, by the way!), but I think the fabrics are too busy for the design, and it loses some of the great effect.

I must admit when you showed the first block on it's own, although I loved the block itself I thought the fabrics were a bit busy together. However as a whole quilt and the consistency of colour, I love it. You have done a fantastic job yet again AJ!

I really like the individual blocks. Together they still work, but some of the impact is lost :)

I liked the individual block, but I do agree the whole thing loses something. Looking at it again, for me, it's the brown. I love the blue, but the brown just doesn't sit well with me.

That is shocking AJ :o
shocking that you support Holden :p

I love the design of the quilt, it does give it a real oriental feel and I do like the colour combo, my first thought was it does look a little busy - but if I was your swappee, I'd love to get it ~ the little window effects makes you want to peek inside :D

I love it. If your swappee doesn't like it I certainly do... :)-

Not sure - but how did you make the folded blocks - a tutorial on it's way??

AJ I think it looks great but then I'd be happy to get anything from you!

I'm in two minds about it. As the idea and design goes it's wonderful quilt. I sat looking at it wondering what it was that mae me think hmm what is it that I think doesn't work. It's the brown as the colours within that fabric distracts from the design. Maybe if you went for a different shade of blue or similar boldness to the dark blue one it would work so much better and make the design be WOW!

How can someone not like it. the fabrics are great and you obviously put alot of work into it. What book did you get the pattern out of?? I would love to know.

Oooh I love the folded centres, that looks amazing. I'm not sure about the colours, when I first looked at it I wasn't quite sure if the dark blue or the brown didn't fit in, but the more I look at it the more I like it.

Have just had a second look. I enlarged it and sat and really looked.(avoiding housework, but this really is more important!) Conclusion - I like it more than I first did, but the brown still doesn't do it for me. Sorry, but you did ask for honest opinions.
