Amy Bulter Weekender

Image
The infamous Amy Butler Weekender Bag! Tick and Check! I’m super happy with how it turned out! There is heaps of help out there on the net. I found Milly’s version particularly helpful. I followed her idea to use a vinyl on the bottom to make it waterproof and a little more hard wearing. I added extra elastic pockets to the inside and some velcro patches to the external big pockets to help them stay closed. I'd read somewhere that you can fit a heap of towels into the weekender so I thought I'd test it. I had a magazine to put in the pocket but got out voted by the boy. He thought a dinosaur book would look much better in there! So course he then clamied that it was 'his' bag! I don't think so buddy! There are a few wrinkles in the piping but not bad for a first effort! It is perfect in some places and not so in others. I did do a little unpicking and resewing to make it look tighter and I could maybe have done a little more but I was ...

Pride & Prejudice - 200 years

Image
Jane Austen (1775-1817) was extremely modest about her own genius but has become one of English literature's most famous women writers. Austen began writing at a young age, embarking on what is possibly her best-known work, Pride and Prejudice, at the age of 22. She was the author of Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Persuasion, Mansfield Park and Northanger Abbey. If you liked Pride and Prejudice, you may enjoy Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre, also available in Penguin Classics. "The most perfect artist among women, the writer whose books are immortal". (Virginia Woolf). "As nearly flawless as any fiction could be". (Eudora Welty). "Pride and Prejudice has always been the most popular of Jane Austen's books ...with its good humoured comedy, its sunny heroine, its dream denouement". (Claire Tomalin). Taken from the Blurb here Kylie set a challenge in May to read and view some different versions of Pride & Prejudice. And s...

A sweet little girl has been waiting for a little while to get this quilt....it was for her first birthday a few months back. She should still get plenty of use out of it though! Someone with longer arms this time....still just as 'helpful'. Took a few photos to get this one! This was a total stash quilt so for my SYST I will take away 11FQ's from the total 5 FQ = backing 1 FQ = binding 5 FQ =  front

Image
A month without blogging.....how did that happen?? I'm not sure anyone even noticed?? Anyway for those of you who do read and would like to see what the last month was like at my place here it is.... * Dental surgery for some fillings (I'm still suffering from terrible Mummy guilt) * Late night baking and hot tea while I finished report cards. * Lots of drawing and writing letters * Lots of imagination play and building * Cousin sleepover and more playing * Checking out the toys sales to make birthday wish lists * Falling asleep before the Rugby kick-off         * Learning to ride a bigger bike * Again missing the kick-off to the Rugby       (he did get to see the third game only because we insisted on a day sleep!) * Training to become a Wallaby * Science at the local Art Gallery with Friends     With the weather cancelling our Medieval Fair Day, we made a  quick decision to play ...

Art Journaling - The Wishing Tree

Image
You know those people that can put together a whole heap of stuff and make it look like Art ? Well I have a few on line friends of the Arty variety and they can do it with ease. So why am I writing about Art  Journaling? Well because they challenged me to do it. You see Anna at TillyTom   had a pop-up sale on her Facebook page  (sale still on!!) where Miss Dove was buying a lovely little Stationary bundle, and with my nicest manners I asked Hubby if I could have one to. Somehow, although I don't think it was my fault, Car ended up with one also. Then apparently according to the 'rules' when 3 people have the same craft supplies a challenge to create something must begin. So Saturday afternoon it is and low and behold I have completed the challenge on time. One Art Journal page using only the crafty supplies from TillyTom + 1 other medium. I chose a pile of scrap booking papers. I had a great idea in the shower a few days ago and it h...
