Milly at the Tin Whistle asked for these super simple but oh so accurate Mitred Squares.  Photo taken from Milly's blog She left us with a tutorial and while I waited for her fabrics to arrive I pulled out all my own stripy fabrics! I didn't htink I had quite that many but they were fun to stash dive for! And even though I pulled them out early I didn't get to do anything with them til Milly's fabrics arrived. Her tutorial is super easy to use and I was SUPER impressed with how neatly I could line up the stripes! I sorta got carried away and made more than I should...I'm sure the 'clown vomit' quilt Milly makes will like the extras!  Before trimming to size Trimmed....bit sad it lost some of it's orange stripes! Here are the ones from Milly's fabrics....  These are the extra's I made from my stripes.... These two come from the same piece of fabric! Thanks for a great block Milly 

Adds picked a lovely simple block this month called 'Granny Squares' . The tutorial for it is here on Blue Elephant Stitches. I loved making this block and it took just under 2 hours to trim the fabrics and piece 2 blocks. You may notice the small snip to one of the white squares at the top...opps the 'quick snips' pictured to the right a a might quick for me! lol They came from hubby's 'sewing kit' that he used while in the forces....after more than 12 years they are still very sharp...although I don't think they got that much use! Anyway I decided not to unpick and replace that white square as it will be chopped off when the block is trimmed anyway....hope that is Ok Adds! Thanks for a great block Adds looking forward to seeing all the blocks together! Just to show my linen fabric joins.....perfect!

I'm first up with the first block for this years sewing bee with the EB quilters and I have picked a maverick star block....not just any old maverick star but a 'Pieced Liberated Maverick Star'....otherwise know as wonky! I'm not very good at wonky blocks so I thought I'd give them a try...and then make the other do them for me! I've penciled in a plan of the quilt and I'm hoping with a rainbow of scraps (minus pink and purple as I'm hoping this will be quilted and finished by December for a certain little boys birthday) and some white tone-on-tone stars for the background, it will all work out perfectly. Using Andie Johnson's tutorial  I have made a 12.5" (un-finished) block. Here are my instructions.... Piece some tone-on-tone scraps together until they are big enough for a 4.5" square The tutorial will help with the seam allowance and trimming if you've never make 'scraps' into a block before Square them off to 4....
