12 Week Challenge

Image
I saw this this afternoon as I was taking Aden for a walk. I haven't seen a rainbow in ages and this one was right outside our house. That is the neighbours roof you can see. I cropped the photo to remove their cars from the picture!! So what is the 12 week challenge?? After a big family dinner of Friday night, lovingly cooked by my DH, I decided I eat too much!! My sister Bee, her partner H, my Dad, his partner K, (my other sister Cee got roped in too although she wasn't at the dinner party) and I decided to loose some weight...I hoping for about 10kgs in 12 weeks!! I keep using the excuse 'I've got a newborn' but sadly he is not so 'newborn' anymore and that excuse is no longer valid! I'm trying desperately to change my eating habits and am trying to follow the 'CSIRO total wellbeing diet' which I have successfully done before. Being my family of course there is a bet involved, winner takes all, $300 is up for grabs....just think of the fabric ...

Summer Rain

I took these from our back patio last night. The dog hates the thunder by the way....barking at it all night!

Our New Car

Image
We couldn't fit Jester and Aden into the Ute so we needed to buy a new car! We found this last Tuesday and bought it out-right, don't owe a thing, on Friday! It's a Subaru Forester 2.5XT, with a Turbo motor. It is the flashest car I've ever owned! Full leather interior, sun roof, climate control, 6-stacker CD player, cruise control, full driver and passenger airbags, etc. I can't tell you what is it like to drive, as I can't drive it for another 3 weeks at least, but it is very comfy to ride in. Even Aden thinks so! We haven't tried it out with the dog yet...but I'll let you know how that goes when we take him to the beach next!

I'm now a housewife!

It is a very strange feeling...not 'working' anymore. People have been telling me that I will still be working...just getting paid less for a more rewarding job! 7 years at the one school, has now come to an end and I start on a whole new way of life. It is very exciting and a little scary at the same time. I think they will miss me...if not all the work I did there but it was nice to leave on a high note and be appreciated for what I did do.

Snap!!

Spent Saturday night sleeping on the floor...after getting drenched in a heavy downpour!! The kids and I had a sleepover at Billabong Sanctuary for our last Science Mates activity for the year. Science Mates is a extra curricular program I co-manage at school that gets kids excited about science. Each year we plan a sleepover and this year is was with the crocs!! We've been to Reef HQ for the last few years so we tried something new this year. There were 62 of us all up...including quite a few adults thank goodness!! The kids had a ball playing in the rain, swimming, feeding kangaroos, holding a baby croc and a black-headed python. We had a nocturnal tour of the animals in the dark....I think using torches was the highlight for the kids!! I think I managed about 3 hours of rough sleep. It was up early in the morning for another park tour in the daylight and then another swim before breakfast and then home time. Very tiring but all up but it was fun. While it was pouring rain, the...

Watch out the V8 supercars are comming!! I waited just over 3 hours in a line today to get these....tickets to the Townsville 400 in July next year...It will be an interesting weekend....both my parents and their partners as well as my MIL and her husband...so a very full house!! Can't wait!

Self Indulgence....

Image
Spent some time and $$ being self indulgent this weekend...and suprisingly non of it was quilting related... Had a lovely morning yesterday shopping with my SIL, who will be moving away in a few weeks time :( so I had to make the most of a shopping buddy. I bought some new clothes and some desperatly needed summer shoes...3 pairs to be exact! And today I bought some summer reading....I call it summer reading cause I won't have time for it until then! Anyone read these???? Good reviews??

Happy Birthday to me!!

Image
I started the morning with a needle jab to the guts to get the IVF ball rolling again, hopefully I respond well again and there are quite a few little eggies to collect in a few weeks! I recieved lots of phone calls and texts from family and friends. Thank you! Funniest when was the phone cut out when MIL was singing 'Happy Birthday', it was that bad!! No not really Lyn!! I didn't tell the kids it was my birthday but I was off class for the day so didn't have to deal with any whinges or whines from them! Just the frustrations of sitting at a computer all day! I love my computer time at home but couldn't stand to do it all day! I had to delete most of the work I have been doing for two days because I missed a step in the setup process and basically had to start over!! Dam!! The years 6's sang to me at the Library and I got lots of well wishes in the staff room. Of course I had lots of squishy fabric to open!! So here is it! From these lovely ladies! 1. Leah , 2. ...

Morning Call

These little buggers are noisy in the mornings!!! The nectar in the flowers stinks like off honey...very sweet but gross!!

Long time comming...

Image
This post has been a long time comming...it has been over two weeks since I last posted and there is nothing really to post about!! I've been super busy at work/school, with a new reporting program to implent and being the only one with training will now have to teach/train the rest of the staff...some with a lot of resistance to change and others who will have to be 'baby-sat' through the process. I've taken the kids on an excursion and been bascially flat out with end of term stuff... Sewing/Quilting wise...I'm still hand appliquing the animals onto 'Noah's' Quilt...currently working on the giraffe, my favourite! It is looking good so far but will not be finished by the time the baby is born...possible will be done to bring down at Christmas time. I've also been working of Joy's RR, which I can't show any pictures of. I washed and am currenlty iorning the fabric that was purshased in the last few months...some of which I still have great pl...

Sailing Away

Image
Another adventure packed weekend this weekend, instead of flying I was sailing. We took some school kids and their parents out on the South Passage , a tall ship from Brisbane for some sailing. There wasn't much sailing going on as the wind was not cooperating with us, but we had a quiet relaxing day on the water. The weather was perfect and not rough at all but most of the kids were sick...literally! They perked up a bit at the end. I got to have a go at 'taking the Helm' and had fun trying not to steer us into the end of the island that we were sailing close to...OK so it wasn't that close but it still took a bit of working out, very different to driving a car!! Hubby got to have a turn at raising one of the main sails, and lowering a beam as the sails were taken down. I got a sunburnt knee and it took quite a few hours to get my 'land legs' back!!

Up in the air I fly....

Image
Zoom zoom a zooma zoom zoom... Well it was more like...Choppa choppa choppa as I was up in a Chinook Helicopter last weekend. I got to sit right at the back and had a great view as they didn't raise the ramp all the way closed!! Walking towards the back where we boarded was very hot. The engines mounted onto the top of the helicopter blows air that is 900 degrees!! As well as the rotor blades spinning it was almost difficult to walk And I got to shoot some guns, including a machine gun!! and Yes they were only blanks!!

New do!

I've been growing my hair back out and it is taking a loooong time as always so I decided to do something different with it...so yesterday I had 'copper' stripes put in it...they looked rather orange yesterday but have calmed down a bit this morning...not sure I like it but it is something different and I can change it next time if want....so What do you think??? Like it??
