Aden's Library....and 'excursion'

Image
We haven't been to the Library for a few weeks...out of routine as DH started 14.5 weeks of holidays!! We went yesterday after the movies and got some new books. We own the 'baby animal' version of this book, hippos, giraffes, lions, parrots etc but I think we have a new favourite! MIL was 'reading' (looking at the pictures) with Aden last night and he was cracking up laughing at the animal noises! And as luck would have it today to celebrate National Playgroup Week we went to the park and saw some real live animals! Aden loved it, reaching and patting and chasing the animals. We also saw not 1 but 2 fire trucks, one left with lights and sirens as it got called to a job while it was there. There was also story telling, painting, balloons and crafts as well as lots of kids! It was a great couple of hours in the park! I'm not sure he knows what this is...lol Chasing the ducks This little piggy squealed everytime you tounched it! So proud of my boy....not scared o...

Happy Birthday Annaleisa!!

Image
My beautiful niece turns 2 today!! We had a great birthday party for her yesterday at her place. It was Aden's first birthday party. He of course didn't get much sleep and was passed around alot but he was very very good! Annaleisa is crazy about Dora so Mum made her a 'Dora' cake! And she of course liked my present the best! Crayon roll (a few posts back), Colouring books, clothes and a Doll quilt! All the kids got down on the floor right away and started colouring it was so cute! And that bump under the quilt is a doll...awwwwww Picture taken on Thursday when I finished her quilt...also blogged about here... Aden had a fantasic time playing with his cousin....they gave each other rides on the bikes and read stories...they are so cute together. Can't wait to see them interact more as they get older! Happy Birthday Leisy girl!!

From the heart

Image
It was with great sadness in my heart that I began making these two little quilts. Two weeks ago tonight, my cousin and her husband were burdened with a terrible heartache that will stay with them forever. Jack and Samuel were born at just 19 weeks and 1 day and sadly passed into God's loving hands shortly after. Although perfect they were just too little to survive. These two little boys were and still are so loved. When I found out there were on their way I was already thinking about some quilts to go with their big sister, Alannah's 'Noah' quilt . After hearing the news of their passing I decided that they still deserved to have some little quilts to honour their births. I had been saving this fabric for something special and I couldn't think of anything better to use it for. I decided on two different quilts because although there were twins they were also individuals. The heart blocks I though appropriate as they will always remain in our hearts forever. I was ...

12 Week Challenge

Image
I saw this this afternoon as I was taking Aden for a walk. I haven't seen a rainbow in ages and this one was right outside our house. That is the neighbours roof you can see. I cropped the photo to remove their cars from the picture!! So what is the 12 week challenge?? After a big family dinner of Friday night, lovingly cooked by my DH, I decided I eat too much!! My sister Bee, her partner H, my Dad, his partner K, (my other sister Cee got roped in too although she wasn't at the dinner party) and I decided to loose some weight...I hoping for about 10kgs in 12 weeks!! I keep using the excuse 'I've got a newborn' but sadly he is not so 'newborn' anymore and that excuse is no longer valid! I'm trying desperately to change my eating habits and am trying to follow the 'CSIRO total wellbeing diet' which I have successfully done before. Being my family of course there is a bet involved, winner takes all, $300 is up for grabs....just think of the fabric ...

Crayon Roll

Image
My niece is turning 2 this weekend...and what do you get for a little girl who has more toys than she can play with...something handmade of course. I've since heard that she loves to draw and colour, even being able to name colours (mostly correct) and shapes (sometimes correct)! I've been wanting to make one of these for ages using Novy's tutorial so last night I did! It is super easy and fun to make. I had to adjust the measurements of course...cause there were 16 crayons in the pack I bought! Just need to get a colouring books or just a sketch book to add to it.

Lucky Me!!

The very talented Emma made this for her childrens Day Care Centre and for just I few dollars and a lot of luck it found it's way to my house! I usually buy raffle tickets knowing that I am donating money to a good cause as I don't ever actually expect to win....but win I did!! Just look at this! Emma phoned me just before Christmas to tell me that I had won! I was totally confused at first and I'm still pinching myself, but it is now all mine!! As soon as I add a hanging sleeve I'll share it with Aden to fit in the beach/ocean room! The little turtles are the same ones I used in his nappy stackers! Thanks Emma it is even better in Real life than it is in the pictures! Proof that I own it...on the carpet in the lounge room!
