New quilt

Image
I have the plan. I have the fabric. I have the pattern. I have the time. I have the motivation. Just waiting for the photos to come back from the printer...then I can get started! I've not started a new quilt in a while....I do have plenty of half started ones though!

Squishy Mail!

Lisa had a giveaway on her blog recently and I won these beautiful FQ's from the Kate Spain Terrain range! Thanks Lisa! Now I know I am supossed to be stash busting and WIPing but I think some more of this range will need to be found...after all a few FQ's is not enough for a cuddle quilt is it!

More for the stash!

I realised that I needed (really I did!) a few more fabrics for Aden's HST Diamond quilt. So while I was dropping my machine off for a service and Aunty was spoiling Aden next door at the toy shop, I found these! Of course it now looks like there are too many of the darker prints. Guess I'll have to do some more shopping!

Fabric Shopping with Friends

Image
Helen and I have been 'friends' for a while now...almost 4.5 years. It was one of those instant friendships where you just hit it off right away. Our problem was that she lives of one side of Australia and I live on the other. Our friendship consisted of late night chats, quilting questions and dilemmas, fabric buys, pregnancy, birth, kids, husbands and life in general....all via the computer. We have heaps and common and very similar tastes. So when Helen told me she was visiting family on my side of Oz for Christmas I jumped at the chance to meet her....and take her fabric shopping of course! The count down to Helen's visit was even more exciting than counting down to Christmas! Then days suddenly today was the day! I have to say it was like catching up with an old friend. Despite never having met before it didn't seem to matter. Helen is soooo lovely and great to chat to! I won't bore you with all the details except to say I (and I think Helen did to!) had a gre...

Update!

Poor blog...being neglected! We are settled and unpacked in our new home. The 2 sets of stairs have taken a little getting used to for Aden but we have removed the gates after only 2 weeks and he is handling them like a pro! Only one fall so far, the day to got the keys when there was nothing else in the house to play with! My sewing room is getting organised and the machines are out of there boxes and the list of things I want to make is growing! I've sorted all my quilting WIP's into one cupboard where I will hopefully head first before starting anything new...wishful thinking I know! DH is loving his new job and is getting used to the shift work. He hasn't done a night shift yet but will this weekend so that will be new for all of us. Aden took his first inter-state trip this last weekend for a surprise party for one of my Mum's cousins. We caught up with my cousins (one of whom I hadn't met yet and he turned 5 in May this year!!) and they got to met Aden of cour...

And what a lovely way to finish...with a squishy parcel for me and Aden. Aden's part consists of 2 lovely pillow cases to match his quilt from the EB ladies. Not sure who made these ones but we love them! I've been meaning to make some cushion covers to go on the pillows I use on the rocking chair in Aden's room (I pinched some old ones from the couch...and they are yuck!) but now I don't have to! Thanks Ladies! They came wrapped in the MM Cowboy print in the next photo...perfect for some overalls I think! And for me some lovely greens and yellows to add to my fabric stash...Thanks Helen.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

It is starting to pop up everywhere in the stores.... Adds talked me into getting these FQ's on special at SL.....Looks like it is time to start the Christmas gift list!

Fabric Shopping

Image
I took Aden fabric shopping for the first time this week. He was an angel! He lay perfectlly content in my arms while I wandered around the shop. I was looking for inspiration for a doll quilt/wall hanging and I found some. This white-on-white has the cutest little swirls printed on it. And I also found some blue with gold and tone-on-tone red swirls to go with it! The yellow is from my stash...just to tone it down a bit so it is not so bright!

Furnishings for the Nursery!!

Image
After weeks of frustrated mindless searching...I've finally found the fabric for the Nursery!! And best of all DH likes it too!! Shock horror!! I'm making a version of this for the cot quilt. The original is too big so I will have to choose some of our favourite blocks and adjust the sashings to fit. Shouldn't be too hard and shouldn't take too long...I hope! I'll be able to use fabric from my stash for most of it and some of the green, yellow and orange fabric below too. This is what I've designed for the bedside table...I'm still not 100% sure about it...but I like the 'snail trail' blocks making waves...possibly just around the outside though with the shell fabric running down the middle. And purple binding from the fabric below. And I found this turtle fabric for the 2 Nappy stackers I'm going to make. I wanted one purple and the other blue...but DH doesn't like the purple..he thinks it doesn't 'go' with the sea theme and wan...

Helen made me do it!!

Thanks to the lovely EB quilters I have received lots of pretty charms over the last few weeks!! They will sit for a little bit til after I have finished a few other projects and then I will decide what to do with them. Thanks girls! Pinks Aquas These were extra special charms from Emma...in her 1km of fabric giveaway...I was putting aside the ones I like best to put at the bottom of the photo so you could see the whole print and I almost had more in that pile than the neat rows I was making! They are all beautiful and most of them shine!!

I went on a bit of a fabric shopping spree a few weeks ago...and this is what has arrived this week! This is only half of my order from EQuilter ....hopefully the others are on there way soon! Wrapped beautifully in aqua tissue paper...they must have known that is my favourite colour at the moment! The some of the new range of Al Fresco fabrics from Fat Quarter Shop . DH thinks these will work best for the nappy bag....he likes the blue circles one on the bottom as the main outside print...I'm still leaning toward the aqua and butterflies above.... I love they way these fabrics from Z&S Fabrics was packaged...these were on sale and too lovely to miss! With some at just US$3.59 a yard...I dare anyone to resist! Which strip??? I bought the one on the left on a whim because it was on a sale and I just LOVE aqua at the moment...but I think it works better then the one I bought to go with the Butterfly fabric...it has a tiny silver stripe through it which I like but the white in it...
